Dr. Adeleh Yarmohammadi (known as "Dr. Adele" by our team) is a highly skilled ophthalmologist who offers our patients facial aesthetics, cataract, glaucoma, and LASIK procedures. During her residency training at the University of California, San Diego’s world-renowned Shiley Eye Institute, she developed her expertise in Oculoplastics and Anterior Segment surgery.
While there, Dr. Adele was honored by being selected as the program’s Chief Resident from an impressive field of young physicians. She then completed a glaucoma and anterior segment fellowship at UC San Diego under the direction of Dr. Robert Weinreb, one of the world’s most prominent leaders in Ophthalmology and the very same physician who had previously trained Dr. Assil. We are thrilled to have her join the Assil Gaur Eye Institute, where our patients will benefit from her superb judgment, surgical skills, and compassionate care.
Dr. Adele is also a talented artist, sharing, “Ever since I was a child, I had a knack for painting. While in medical school, I recognized that ophthalmology amalgamates science and art. This partnership begins with using the most advanced scientific diagnostic technologies and the fine art of listening to my patients to fully understand their circumstances and their visual and aesthetic desires and needs. Next, I can deploy science-based therapies coupled with my artistic surgical skills while practicing good communication to achieve the ideal results, improving a patient’s quality of life. This brings me immense joy.”
Before her Ophthalmology Residency training, Dr. Adele conducted two years of post-graduate clinical and research sub-specialty fellowship in Glaucoma and Ocular Imaging at the prestigious Hamilton Glaucoma Center of UCSD’s Shiley Eye Institute. Following a surgical internship at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center, she returned to Shiley for her ophthalmology residency training, where she had the privilege of training under the mentorship of Dr. Don Kikkawa and Dr. Bobby Korn, two leaders in the field of Oculoplastics.
Following her residency training, Dr. Adele completed her fellowship in glaucoma and anterior segment under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Weinreb. During her brief academic career, she has already published over 40 peer-reviewed research papers in prominent ophthalmic journals, an enormously impressive achievement. Her work has been cited in over 2000 subsequent publications. She has further lectured and presented scientific papers nationally.
Dr. Adele is an active member of the American Glaucoma Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Women in ophthalmology, and a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
